SAFETY AND STANDARDS

Our products undergo rigorous testing by trusted third-party labs and meet or exceed industry safety requirements.

Our gliders and swivels exceed all stringent tipping tests, but they're still heavy. Please take care while using them, and place them on a flat, even surface to ensure stability and prevent tip hazards.

Swivels and gliders move by design, but please swivel and glide sensibly, and monitor your children to ensure they don’t touch or play with the mechanisms at the base of the chairs.

Our entire fabric catalogue consists of the safest materials for your children—all-natural or recycled fabrics—nothing toxic, no flame-retardants, and nothing coated with chemicals or PFAS.

All our materials meet or exceed stringent industry chemical and VOC emissions standards.

CARE AND CONSTRUCTION

Care

For detailed instructions on spot cleaning, dry cleaning, and machine washing, check out our post, “Cleaning your slipcover.

Spills & Stains

Tread carefully—treatment can vary by fabric, color, and stain type.

Dry Cleaning & Machine Washing

Natural and recycled fabrics: We strongly recommend dry cleaning for regular laundering and stain removal. Machine washing is possible with a bit of mindful care.
Recycled Faux Fur: Machine wash per the instructions in our detailed care post and air-dry. Do not dry-clean or tumble-dry.

Upkeep & Maintenance

Natural and recycled fabrics: Vacuum regularly (with an upholstery attachment if you have one).
Recycled Faux Fur: Gently brush the fabric fibers with a soft-bristle brush (or your hand) in the direction of the fur.

You can read more about day-to-day maintenance in our post, “Getting to know your Sixpenny.

Please note that consistent exposure to direct sunlight can lead to fading or discoloration. You can read more about fabric colorfastness in our post, “Fabric fading 101.

COMFORT

Loula’s cushionless seat consists of four layers. A layer of loose fill (Feather Down or Poly Fill) sits on top of three layers of high-density foam: a “support layer”, a cushy “comfort layer,” and a “firmness layer” for structure. The seat is fixed to the frame and is not removable.

Seat Cushions: 80% foam, 20% loose fill
Back Cushions: 100% loose fill

Our lofty Feather Down is ethically sourced, and our vegan Poly Fill is designed to mimic the familiar fluff of feathers. We mix a small percentage of vegan poly fiber into the Feather Down cushions for a bit of spring.

As a rule, the fluffier the cushion, the more upkeep it will require. Our cushions are exceptionally soft, and much of the fill is loose, so periodic fluffing will go a long way.

You can read more about our cushions in Materials & Construction or in our post, “Inside scoop: Feather Down vs Poly Fill.

Loula Comfort Chart. On a scale of 1 to 10, Loula has a very firm-ish seat feel of 1, a pretty laid-back back feel of 8, and a deeper seat depth of 7.

Our post on how to clean your slipcover also provides a comprehensive look at instructions, plus dos and don’ts for each and every fabric.

We also don’t coat our fabrics with any chemicals, so from a wellness perspective, each one is life-friendly for you and your little ones, but that does mean they require a little extra mindfulness.

Shipping is always free, and we offer two delivery services.

Threshold delivery is free: our delivery partner will bring your shipment to the front door of your house or apartment at your scheduled appointment time.

White glove delivery costs $100: our delivery partner will bring your shipment into the room of your choice, unpack your item, and complete any necessary assembly.

To decide which option is best for you, read our post on the two delivery options and our tips to ensure a successful delivery. Take note of the height, width, and depth of doorways, hallways, stairwells, and elevators leading into your home. We recommend giving yourself an extra 1-2 inches of wiggle room—the team may refuse delivery if they don't feel an item will fit. No-fit deliveries are subject to a 10% restocking fee.

All deliveries require an appointment and signature. Once your order reaches the local facility, our delivery partner will contact you to confirm an appointment. Need to reschedule? Reply directly to your appointment confirmation or email delivery@sixpenny.com for assistance.

Please note: Items that are returned without their original packaging will incur a 10% restocking fee.

Our Feather Down and Poly Fill cushions look and feel very similar. We engineer our shredded Poly Fill to mimic the decadent, sink-in experience associated with feather-filled cushions, and truthfully, sometimes we can't even tell the difference.

Our Poly Fill consists of entirely vegan poly fiber, while our Feather Down is a mix of ethically-sourced feather, ethically-sourced down, and vegan poly fiber.

Both fills are loose (not just big bricks of foam), and contents will shift around and shape to your favorite spots over time. Regular fluffing is strongly encouraged for both Feather Down and Poly Fill cushions to keep them looking and feeling like their prettiest, perkiest selves.
